Ingredients

  • 3 lbs chicken breasts skinless, boneless
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/2 cup Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • salt to season
  • pepper to season

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  • Lightly spray the slow cooker with non-stick cooking oil and add the seasoned chicken pieces to it.
  • In a large bowl, mix the marmalade, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, and garlic powder until fully combined.
  • Pour the orange glaze over the chicken then stir together until the chicken is fully coated.
  • Cook on high for 2 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through. Once the chicken is cooked, mix cold water and cornstarch in a small bowl until it’s dissolved. Then, add it to the slow cooker.
  • Cook for another 30 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
  • Serve warm over rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

  • If you want to add a bit of heat to this dish, add 1 teaspoon of red chili flakes to the sauce before cooking. 
  • The marmalade gives this dish a very noticeable sweet orange flavor, much simpler than juicing oranges but tastes just as fresh! 
  • Serve this simple orange chicken recipe with rice, noodles, or veggies!
