Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Pizza Cutter
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 14 oz Lit'l Smokies drained and patted dry
  • 1 can crescent rolls
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 4 strips bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 4.5 oz can green chilies drained
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F, then spray a 9 x 13-inch baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Then, remove the crescent rolls from the package and separate the triangles. Using a pizza cutter, cut each one in half lengthwise, then cut in half again, horizontally. You should have 4 pieces from every triangle and 32 pieces total. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, then add the bacon, green chilies, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Divide the cream cheese mixture evenly between the crescent roll pieces, spreading a thin layer on each one.
  • Then, place a Lit’l Smokie on the widest end of each piece of dough. Roll it up.
  • Place the pigs in a blanket on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket are a great recipe to whip when feeding a group!
  • You can substitute jalapenos for canned green chilies. When using fresh jalapenos, the taste and texture are different, and the dish is spicier.
  • You can prepare these up to 2 days before baking them. Once prepared, cover them in plastic wrap and refrigerate until it’s time to bake them.
