- 6 cups Chex Cereal rice or corn, or a mixture of the two
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1/2 cup Peanut Butter Creamy
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 3 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 cup M&Ms green and red
First, melt the peanut butter, semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter together in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
Add in the vanilla extract and stir until everything is well combined.
Next, pour the chex cereal over the melted peanut butter and chocolate mixture, then gently stir until the cereal is evenly coated. (I recommend using a wooden spoon or large spatula and incorporating slowly so you don't break the cereal into pieces as you mix).
Transfer the chocolate coated chex (while wet) to a large plastic bag or container with a lid. Add in the powdered sugar and shake until the cereal is evenly coated.
Now, it's time to add in the festive touch! Pour in the green and red M&M's and stir until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
Spread the mixture out onto a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper to cool and set.
Serve and enjoy! And fair warning, this stuff is addictive!
Pro Tip: I like to throw in 2 additional cups of plain, un-coated chex cereal when I add the holiday M&Ms and toss together because it gives me a larger portion and it helps balance out the sweetness!
Storage: Store your puppy chow in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Add different ingredients to this Christmas Puppy Chow to better suit your tastes if you'd like! The sky's the limit but some great additions to this recipe are: pretzels, peanuts, reeses minis, Christmas candy, etc!
