Equipment

  • Parchment paper
  • Chef's Knife
  • Piping Bag
  • Small Leaf Piping Tip
  • Small Offset Spatula
  • Fork

Ingredients

  • 8 Little Debbie Swiss Rolls
  • 1/2 cup chocolate frosting canned
  • 2 tbsp green frosting canned
  • 18 red pearl sprinkles or sixlets
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar optional

Instructions

  • Remove 6 Swiss rolls from the package and place them a few inches apart on parchment paper. Next, cut the other 2 rolls at an angle, cutting 3 pieces from each one. Set these smaller pieces aside.
  • Then, use a chef's knife to slice a thin piece off each end of the 6 larger rolls.
  • Using an offset spatula, gently spread chocolate frosting over the outside of the Swiss rolls. Take one of the smaller pieces from earlier and add a dollop of frosting to one end. Secure it to the side of a large roll. Use extra frosting to create a seamless transition between the two pieces. Pieces of the Swiss roll may break away; just discard the piece and re-frost.
  • Once all 6 logs are frosted, lightly run the tines of a fork over the frosting to create the look of bark.
  • Then, add green frosting to a piping bag fitted with a small leaf tip and pipe two leaves on each log.
  • Add three red pearl sprinkles to each pair of holly leaves.
  • Finally, dust with powdered sugar for a snowy finish, if desired.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a piping bag, use a resealable bag. Place frosting in the bottom corner of the bag, cut a V in the corner, and decorate.
  • I use store-bought frosting for ease but feel free to use homemade.
  • Use red Skittles instead of sprinkles, placing the S down in the frosting.
