Ingredients

  • 6 oreo cookies
  • 12 nutter butter cookies
  • 60 candy corn pieces
  • 12 chocolate candy corn pieces
  • 24 candy eyes
  • ½ cup red frosting
  • 1 10 oz package of milk chocolate melting wafers

Instructions

  • Separate the oreo cookie halves and discard the filling.
  • Take the chocolate candy corn and cut off a triangle from the orange end for each turkey beak.
  • Melt the chocolate melting wafers, by microwaving in a microwave safe bowl on 30 second intervals, stirring well in between.
  • Dip one end of each nutter butter cookie into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off, and place it onto the bottom half of one of the oreo cookie halves. About halfway up, leave room for the candy corn “feathers” around the top half.
  • Attach an orange candy corn beak, and two candy eyes.
  • Take the red frosting, and pipe just a bit onto the back of the candy corn pieces, and place them around the top of the oreo cookie halves, against the chocolate dipped nutter butter to make the feathers.
  • Tip: If your nutter butters try to detach themselves from the oreo cookie halves, slide an extra candy corn under the plain end of the nutter butter to hold it up while the chocolate sets.
  • Allow the cookies to set until the chocolate hardens. Then, pipe a bit of red frosting beside the candy corn beak to make the turkey’s gobbler.

Storage Instructions:

How to Store Nutter Butter Turkeys:

Let’s get real – these little turkeys might just fly off the plate faster than you can say "Nutter Butter"! But just in case you've made a few extra you can store them for later. Place any extra Nutter Butter Turkeys in an airtight container and gobble them up within 3-4 days.

Helpful Tips & Substitutions:

Can This Be Made Ahead of Time?

Totally! Prep the cookies the day before and have them ready to assemble and serve the next day. Perfect for when you want to dazzle your guests with minimum fuss and maximum flavor.

Substitutions & Variations

Wanna get creative with your turkey treats? Here are some great options.
    • Dipped Delight: Instead of just dipping one end of the Nutter Butter, why not fully coat it in chocolate for an extra decadent treat?
    • Flavor Fest: How about adding some flavor to that melted chocolate? A drop of mint, orange, or even coconut extract can make your turkeys a bit more exotic.
    • Sprinkle Spectacle: After dipping the Nutter Butter in chocolate, roll it in sprinkles for a festive and colorful look.
    • Marshmallow Madness: Attach small marshmallow bits as the turkey's tail feathers. The fluffy texture can add a delightful contrast.
    • Nutty Turkeys: Use slivers of almonds or pecans to add some crunch and nuttiness to your turkey cookies.
    • Color Burst: Not a fan of red frosting? No problem! Go wild with blue, purple or even rainbow gobblers!

Helpful Cooking Notes

    • Melting Mania: When melting your chocolate wafers, the trick is patience! Those 30-second intervals can make all the difference between perfectly smooth chocolate and a burnt, gloopy mess. Remember, stirring is your best friend.
    • Sticky Situation: If your turkeys seem to have a mind of their own and refuse to stay together, don’t panic! That extra candy corn tip is a lifesaver. They also make for a fun, hidden surprise under the Nutter Butter.
