- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 Tablespoons Ranch seasoning mix (not ranch dressing)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Pepper
- 1 Roma tomato finely diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup iceberg lettuce finely shredded
- 6 slices thick cut bacon cooked and crumbled
Prepare Toppings: Finely dice the Roma tomato and shred the iceberg lettuce. Cook the bacon until crispy, let it cool on a paper towel lined plate then crumble it into small pieces. Set all of these aside.
Prepare the Base: In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Add Seasoning: Add the Ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, and pepper to the cream cheese mixture. Combine well to incorporate all the flavors.
Mix in Cheese: Beat half of the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
Assemble the Dip: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into a serving dish or shallow bowl. Sprinkle the remaining cheese, diced Roma tomato, shredded lettuce, and crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the dip.
Chill (Optional): For best results, cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. However, it can also be served immediately.
Serve: Serve the BLT dip with crackers, chips, or fresh vegetable slices for dipping.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
Store any leftover BLT Dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to 3 days. The flavors might even get better as they continue to meld together! I don't recommend freezing any leftovers.
Helpful Tips & Substitutions
Can This Be Made Ahead of Time?
Absolutely! This BLT Dip is a perfect make-ahead dish. Prepare it up to a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Just give it a quick stir before serving to freshen it up.
Substitutions & Variations
- Cheese Swap: Try using Monterey Jack, Colby, or even a spicy Pepper Jack cheese instead of cheddar.
- Green Goodness: Add some chopped green onions if you're feeling feisty.
- Spice It Up: Add a dash of hot sauce or some diced jalapeños for a bit of heat.
Helpful Cooking Notes
- Softening Cream Cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is fully softened before mixing. If it's too cold, you'll end up with a lumpy dip. Leave it out at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or microwave it for a few seconds to soften it up.
- Crispy Bacon: For the crispiest bacon, cook it in the oven. Lay the bacon slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Fresh Lettuce: Shred the lettuce just before assembling the dip to keep it crisp and fresh.
- Serving Options: This dip is versatile! Serve it with crackers, pita chips, tortilla chips, or even fresh veggie sticks like celery, carrots, and bell peppers.
