How to Make Christmas Puppy Chow

Step 1: First, melt the peanut butter, semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter together in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.

Step 2: Add in the vanilla extract and stir until everything is well combined.

Step 3: Next, pour the chex cereal over the melted peanut butter and chocolate mixture, then gently stir until the cereal is evenly coated. (I recommend using a wooden spoon or large spatula and incorporating slowly so you don’t break the cereal into pieces as you mix).

Step 4: Transfer the chocolate coated chex (while wet) to a large plastic bag or container with a lid. Add in the powdered sugar and shake until the cereal is evenly coated.

Step 5: Now, it’s time to add in the festive touch! Pour in the green and red M&M’s and stir until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Step 6: Spread the mixture out onto a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper to cool and set.

Step 7: Serve and enjoy! And fair warning, this stuff is addictive!

Pro Tip: I like to throw in 2 additional cups of plain, un-coated chex cereal when I add the holiday M&Ms and toss together because it gives me a larger portion and it helps balance out the sweetness!
