COLORFUL
Fall called and it’s craving Caramel Apple Dip. The irresistible combination of sweet, creamy caramel paired with the crunch of fresh apple slices! This recipe is a breeze to make and perfect for sharing at parties, family gatherings, or even as a solo snack when you’re craving something indulgent.
Ingredients:
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour and 10 minutes | Servings: 6
- 8 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
- ¼ cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- ½ tsp Lemon Juice
- ½ cup Caramel Sauce
- ¼ cup Toffee Bits
- Apple Slices, for serving
Instructions:
- Beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract and lemon juice until incorporated and fluffy.
- Scoop the cream cheese mixture into a shallow serving dish and evenly spread out.
- Pour the caramel sauce on top so that it covers the entire cream cheese filling and then sprinkle on toffee bits.
- Cover and chill for at least an hour (or overnight) then serve with sliced red and green apples.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
To store leftovers, keep it in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. Just be sure to store the apple slices separately, so they stay crisp and fresh. I do not recommend freezing any left overs because it will alter the texture.
Helpful Tips & Substitutions
Can This Be Made Ahead of Time?
Absolutely! You can make the Caramel Apple Dip and let it chill in the fridge for up to 24 hours before serving.
Substitutions & Variations
- Caramel Sauce Substitution: Want to get fancy? Make your own homemade caramel sauce! Or, if you’re in a rush, any store-bought caramel sauce will do the trick.
- Toffee Bits Swap: No toffee bits on hand? No problem. You can swap them out for chopped nuts like pecans or almonds for a bit of crunch. Or, go all out and use chocolate chips or even crushed pretzels for a salty-sweet twist.
- Salted Caramel Dip: Swap your regular caramel sauce for a salted caramel version. The slight saltiness adds an extra layer of depth that’s perfect for grown-up taste buds!
- Fall Spice Caramel Dip: Want to make this dip even more autumn-inspired? Add a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice to the cream cheese mixture for that cozy fall flavor.
Helpful Cooking Notes
- Soften the Cream Cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is fully softened before you start mixing. If it’s too cold, you’ll end up with a lumpy mixture instead of that smooth, fluffy base we’re aiming for. To soften cream cheese quickly, you can microwave it for about 10-15 seconds, or just leave it out on the counter for 30-45 minutes.
- Use Fresh Apples: The apples are just as important as the dip itself, so pick fresh, crisp ones for the best result. A mix of sweet red apples (like Fuji or Gala) and tart green apples (like Granny Smith) gives a nice balance of flavors.
- Prep Apples Ahead of Time: If you want to slice your apples ahead of time, toss them in a little lemon juice or a mixture of water and salt to prevent browning.
- Caramel Consistency: If your caramel sauce is a little too thick to pour, microwave it for 10 seconds or so to loosen it up before pouring it over the cream cheese layer.
