If you’re in the mood for a refreshing and delicious drink that’s perfect for any occasion, you’ve come to the right place. Blueberry Limeade is super easy to whip up and sure to impress. Whether you’re hosting a summer barbecue or just chilling on the porch, this vibrant and zesty drink will be your new go-to.
Ingredients:
Prep Time: 5 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes | Servings: 8
- 52 oz Simply Limeade, chilled
- 2 Tablespoons Limeade Frozen Concentrate, or more according to preference
- 2 Liters Sprite, chilled
- 12 oz Blueberry Simple Syrup
- Fresh Blueberries
- Fresh Limes
Instructions:
- Prepare the Limeade Base: In a large pitcher, combine the chilled Simply Limeade with the Limeade Frozen Concentrate. Stir well to ensure the concentrate is fully dissolved.
- Add the Blueberry Simple Syrup: Pour in ¼ cup of Blueberry Simple Syrup. Taste the mixture and add more syrup if a sweeter and stronger blueberry flavor is desired.
- Incorporate the Sprite: Slowly add the chilled Sprite to the pitcher. Stir gently to combine without losing too much carbonation. (Only add the Sprite if you are serving soon, otherwise, mix together the limeade/blueberry base and store covered in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve so the Sprite doesn’t lose carbonation and go flat before serving.)
- Garnish and Serve: Slice fresh limes into thin rounds and add them to the pitcher. Add a handful of fresh blueberries to the pitcher for garnish. Optionally, squeeze some fresh lime juice into the mixture for an extra zesty flavor.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Serve the Blueberry Limeade over ice in glasses. Garnish each glass with additional fresh blueberries and a slice of lime on the rim.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
If you find yourself with extra Blueberry Limeade, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to three days. Just make sure to keep it in a tightly sealed container to preserve its fizzy goodness. When you’re ready for a refill, give it a gentle stir before serving to mix any settled ingredients. This recipe is best made fresh so freezing isn’t recommended.
Helpful Tips & Substitutions
Can This Be Made Ahead of Time?
Absolutely! You can prepare the limeade and blueberry base a day ahead and store it in the refrigerator. This gives the flavors more time to meld together, making the drink even tastier. Just wait to add the Sprite until right before serving to keep the carbonation fresh and bubbly.
Substitutions & Variations
- Different Fruits: Swap out blueberries for raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries. Each fruit will bring its own unique flavor twist.
- Herbal Infusion: Add a few sprigs of fresh mint or basil to the pitcher for a refreshing herbal note.
- Alcoholic Version: For an adult version, add a splash of vodka or gin. Just remember to drink responsibly!
- Low-Sugar Option: Use a diet lemon-lime soda and reduce the amount of blueberry simple syrup for a lighter version.
Helpful Cooking Notes
- Chill Everything: Make sure all your ingredients are well-chilled before mixing. This helps keep the drink refreshingly cold and maintains the carbonation of the Sprite.
- Adjust Sweetness: The amount of blueberry simple syrup can be adjusted to suit your taste. Start with a little and add more until you reach your desired sweetness level.
- Fresh Lime Juice: If you want an extra zing, freshly squeezed lime juice can make a big difference. Just be mindful not to overdo it—you want a balance of flavors, not an overpowering lime taste.
- Serving Over Ice: Serving over ice not only keeps your drink cold but also dilutes it slightly, so it’s not overly sweet. Plus, it looks super fancy!
